CITY OF MALOLOS — A group of students from a university in Bulacan held a protest rally Sept. 11 in front of the Department of Public Works and Highways Bulacan 1st District Engineering Office amid the controversies in the flood control projects.

“Mga kurakot ikulong na yan!” screamed placards held by the protestors.

One of the student-rallyists, John Camacho, said they are frustrated over the billions of pesos wasted because of corruption involving DPWH officials, private contractors, and politicians.

He said that dismissed DPWH district engineer Henry Alcantara and DPWH assistant district engineer Brice Hernandez should be ashamed of themselves enjoying multi-millions of pesos while Bulakenyos are suffering from flooding.

The rallyists said that they will not stop carrying out protest actions until those who are involved in the flood control scandal are imprisoned.

Punto! tried to get the side of DPWH Bulacan 1st DEO but according to the guard on duty, not a single DPWH official was in the office during the rally.
