ANGELES CITY — Hundreds of youths and students in this city launched on Sept 28 the Youth for Angeles (YA), a city-wide organization with membership in different barangays as well as in major universities and college in this highly-urbanized city.
“The youth and students will always push for genuine change and support leaders that have clear visions and platforms of government that will benefit the people,” said Patrick Cura, one of the organizers.
Cura headed the Angeles City Youth Development Office during the incumbency of Mayor Edgardo Pamintuan, now the chairman of Clark Development Corp.
“We are organizing ourselves to have one voice in pushing for programs that are aimed to improve the city and its communities, and uplift the social and economic situation of the residents through scholarship and livelihood, job opportunities, health care, crime prevention and peace and order programs, in general,” added YA interim president Amiel Aleno.
According to Cura, YA will support the vision and mission of former Philippine National Police chief Gen. Oscar Albayalde for Angeles City towards inclusive governance.
Cura, who also served as punong barangay and sanggunian kabataan chairman of Lourdes Sur East, is planning to run for city councilor in next year’s elections.
“The best welfare and interest of the city is our primary objective in supporting General Albayalde for mayor. If political change is constant, it will result to improved socio-economic conditions. Mas marami ang mabibiyayaan. Let’s give change a chance,” Cura said. Press release
