The long-awaited election was supervised by the DOLE among 1,797 registered employees belonging to the rank and file and 278 supervisors. There were 1,452 rank and file employees who voted in favor of the union and 138 for the supervisors.
Both unions are affiliated with the Philippine Trade and General Workers Organization (PTGWO) which is the biggest labor federation in the Philippines with more than 100 affiliates.
YTPI is the biggest tire manufacturing facility in the Philippines with a production capacity of almost 30,000 tires per day and employs around 3,000 to date.
