The Ceremonial Signing of a Memorandum of Agreement [MoA] and Entrustment of Dairy Buffaloes and production,processing, and marketing equipment and materials to AmiaCruz Agriculture Cooperative and Palayan Agriculture Cooperative of Victoria and Mabulod Green Farm Producers Cooperative of San Jose, Tarlac was undertaken at Bulwagan ngKalayaan in Victoria, September 30.
The Provincial Government of Tarlac is blessed to be one of only 16 provinces in the country to be part of the “ALAB-Karbawan” project of the Department of Agriculture- Philippine Carabao Center Supported by Central Luzon State UniversityDr. Daniel Aquino, Dr Arnel Barrio and Dr. Caro Salces both of the Philippine Carabao Center-NHQGP, according to Vice Governor Carlito “Casada” David.
The Carabao-based Business Improvement Network [CBIN] popularized as ALAB [Accelerating Livelihood and Assets Buildup]—Karbawan is a locally-funded project launched in October 2019, thru Senator Cynthia Villar’s office.
“Isa po sa kanilang mga layunin ngayon at bilang suportasa adhikaing Pagkain Muna ay paigtingin ang dairy industry dito po sa ating probinsya. Kaya ngayong araw po ay naganapang Ceremonial Signing of MOA and Entrustment of Dairy Buffaloes sa pakikipagtulongan sa Philippine Carabao Center,” Governor Susan said.
The MoA signing aims to establish a robust carabao-based enterprises in identified provinces, thereby creating livelihood for farmers as it envisioned to kick-start the development of the dairy sector in the province through herd build-up of genetically improved dairy carabaos, provision of processing equipment and supplies, establishment of market outlets, and continuous provision of capacity building activities and support services.
Others in attendance during the signing and entrustment were Board Members Danilo Asiaten and Dennis Norman Go, Mayors Christian Tell Yap of Victoria and Romeo Capitulo of San Jose, Provincial Agriculturist Alicia Cruz and the Office of the Provincial Agriculturist staff.—PIO
