BONGABON, Nueva Ecija – Six people were arrested for illegal cockfighting in Barangay Olivete here at about 1:30 p.m. on Christmas Day.
Police investigator MSg. Ryan Dino identified the suspects as Noel Valerio, 38, and Aldrin Salonga, 34, both residents of Barangay Curva here; Alexis Aquino, 39, and Samuel Ignacio, 45, both of Barangay Antipolo; Sonny Boy Rivera, 27, and Leo Haze Matutino, 28, both of Barangay Santor.
Police said the suspects were caught in the act of holding illegal cockfight or tupada in the said village.
Operatives seized four fighting cocks, two metal gaffs and P1,800 bet money, among other evidence, probers said.
The suspects were slapped with charges of violating Presidential Decree 1602 or Anti-Illegal Gambling and Presidential Decree 449 or Cockfighting Law of 1974, police added.
