With state-of-the-art fire trucks CIA’s rating up to Category 10

    SM’S GOT IT.     CLARK INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT – Two Rosenbauer fire trucks worth P115 million  were delivered and the new     P92- million two-finger passenger  boarding bridge was inaugurated  at this airport on Monday in time for the birthday celebration of Clark  International Airport Corp. (CIAC) President-CEO Atty. Emigdio“Dino” Tanjuatco III.

    The inauguration of the Clark International  Airport Travelers’ Lounge was also held later at the Bayanihan Park of  the SM City Clark following  the Clark airport event. 

    The acquisition of two units of 6×6 3,000-gallon  major tender  with a  high reach extendable turret (HRET) and a 6×6  2,250-gallon major tenderre trucks raised the  CIA to Category  0 from  its previous Category 9  status.

    Category 10 is the  highest rating set by the  International Civil  Aviation  Organization (ICAO) which means that the  CIA can now handle emergency disasters involving  wider  aircraftssuch as the Boeing-777  and the Airbus A-380. Tanjuatco, who  turned 45 on Monday, said the two fire trucks  “are the first in the country today.” 

    “These vehicles  would be used for emergency  disasters at Clark airport and we are now  capable of handling such disasters involving wider  aircrafts which are currently  being used by air carriers,” Tanjuatco said. 

    He also led the bless-ing of the newly installed  two-finger passenger boarding bridge aimed  at providing more convenience  to passengers at the airport. 

    Later in the morning,  Tanjuatco and SM City Clark officials led by SM  Regional Manager for  Operations Junias Eusebio and Mall Manager  Ana Datu as well as Department of Tourism Regional Director Ronnie  Tiotuico and Angeles  City Transport Federation President Dan Yumul cut the ribbon at the  opening of the SM-Clark  Airport Travelers’ Lounge located at the Bayanihan  Park at SM   City Clark.

    Tanjuatco said the opening of the new Travelers  Lounge will give  passengers more convenience in  taking their flights at Clark airport  and provide a seamless  transportation service to and from the airport. 

    “I would like  to thank the management of SM  City Clark for their support  to Clark airport and rest assured that CIAC  will continue to provide  support to SM Clark and especially to the passengers,”  he said.

    The SM Travelers’  Lounge is  open daily from 4am to 11pm. It  is being serviced by the Philtranco bus lines.  Passengers departing  from the CIA can now use the SM Travelers’  Lounge to their respective  destinations via Philtranco Buses that will  take them to SM  Pampanga, SM North EDSA,  SM Mega Mall and SM Mall of Asia and vice-versa.
