    ANGELES CITY – “Case solved.”

Thus said Senior Supt. Jose Santiago Hidalgo Jr., city police director, of the killing of campus beauty queen Danielle Louise “Danni” Huet Conde, a freshman engineering student of Holy Angel University (HAU) last week.

This, with the arrest Saturday of the “real” suspect, Hidalgo identified as Vladimir Dianzon, y Ordoryo, 32 years old, and a resident of 48 San Rafael Street, Barangay  Telebastagan, City of San Fernando.

Hidalgo said a tip from concerned citizens led to the arrest of Dianzon.

According to the police chief, two additional witnesses confirmed the identity of Dianzon as the man they saw with blood on his right hand fleeing the vicinity of the crime scene on board a mountain.

The same witnesses confirmed the description of said bicycle which was recovered by the authorities.

The bicycle was turned over to the SOCO-Crime Laboratory for forensic examination as bloodstains were still visible on its frame.

”Additionally, one of the first witnesses, a 12 year old boy, retracted his previous statement and confirmed the identity of the new suspect as the one he saw leaving the apartment of the victim,” Hidalgo added.

A case of robbery with homicide has been filed by policemen against the suspect who was subjected to inquest proceedings.

    Mistaken ID

On Friday afternoon, the police took into custody Rolando Estrata of Barangay Lourdes Sur after he surrendered through barangay officials and was positively identified by a witness as the man leaving the apartment where Conde was killed.

This even as Estrada denied any involvement in the crime, claiming he surrendered “for fear of his life” after police started inquiring about him.

Estrada was released from the custody of Angeles City Police Office by Prosecutor Mark Oliver Sison with the arrest of Dianzon.
Mayor Edgardo Pamintuan lauded the efforts of the ACPO for their persistence and zealousness in solving the case the soonest possible time, even as he expressed sadness and outrage over the killing of Danielle.

For his part, Hidalgo also acknowledged the all-out and relentless support of the mayor during the pursuit operations conducted by the task group formed to solve Conde’s killing.
