CABANATUAN CITY – A 59-year-old housewife is now locked in jail for allegedly trying to sneak in a sachet of suspected shabu for her husband at the male custodial facility of Cabanatuan City Police Station on Sunday.

Police said the woman, a dishwasher from Barangay San Isidro of this city, was supposed to bring in things, including a pair of blue denim pants for her husband who was jailed for drugs charges at about 5:15 p.m.

“The suspect underwent a routine inspection of her belongings,” police reported. “In the process, police discovered a heat-sealed transparent plastic sachet containing about 0.3 grams of suspected shabu, concealed inside the pocket of a pair of blue denim pants intended to be handed over to her spouse.”

This prompted the lawmen to immediately arrest the woman who is now facing charges for violation of Section 11, Article II of RA 9165 (Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002), said Col. Heryl Bruno, director of the Nueva Ecija Police Provincial Office.

“We will not allow shabu to flourish inside jails or anywhere else in Nueva Ecija. The suspect will face the full force of the law for attempting to bring drugs into a detention facility,” Bruno said.
