CLARK FREEPORT – Running on the heels of its P2-billion expansion project, Widus International Leisure, Inc. (WILI), owner of Widus Hotel and Casino, has signed another lease agreement for a 3.2-hectare property with the Clark Development Corp. (CDC) on Wednesday.
Daesik Han, president and CEO of WILI, signed the contract with CDC President-CEO Arthur P. Tugade at the Nevada Hall of the hotel’s convention center. With this addition, Widus now leases a total of 7.9-hectare property inside this freeport.
The additional land is intended for the hotel’s third tower which comprises 250 rooms complete with amenities and facilities such as a main restaurant, bakery, lounge, executive lounge, gift shop, kids’ recreational area, entertainment room, swimming pool, spa and salon.
According to Han, the third hotel tower will further exceed Widus’ standards in terms of hotel design and concept. “As long as I have invested that much amount of money and then I see the potential of Clark, I will invest more and I will support this economy,” said Han.
So far, some $60 million has been infused into the hotel and an additional $100 to $150 million will still be invested, he added. Tugade said the new lease contract is for $2 per square-meter which went up from the original $.70.
A timeline on what would be developed was also submitted to the CDC, he added. Widus targets to complete its development in the next five years. Widus General Manager Alfred Reyes and a host of CDC executives were also on hand to witness the signing of the new lease agreement.
