PALAYAN CITY – A housewife from the municipality of Carranglan, Nueva Ecija has sought the help of the provincial government for the repatriation of the ashes of her husband who reportedly died of the coronavirus disease in the United Arab Emirates.

Marife Castro, resident of Barangay Puncan, Carranglan, said that her husband, Richard, was cremated in the UAE on May 18 and his ashes have remained in the crematorium.

Castro recalled that Richard, who worked as a security guard in UAE, consulted a physician on April 29 due to persistent fever and was admitted in a health facility on May 3.

On May 11, Castro was informed that her husband died at about 6:30 that morning.

According to a report from DWNE, a radio station run by the provincial government of Nueva Ecija, Gov. Aurelio Umali has ordered an immediate action on Castro’s request.

The provincial government’s Malasakit OFW Help Desk is now coordinating with the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration, Department of Foreign Affairs and the Philippine Embassy in UAE to have the OFW’s ashes home, report said.
