SUBIC, Zambales –– A man wanted for murder was killed after he shot it out with policemen serving him a warrant of arrest Wednesday morning in Barangay Naugsol here.
Subic police chief Capt. Rolando Ballon said elements of the town police and the anti-kidnapping group-Luzon field unit by Major Erving S. Chan were serving Edison Villaran y Mercadeas, 43, a warrant of arrest issued by Judge Anna Francesca M. Limbo of RTC Fourth Judicial Region Branch 69 in Rizal for the crime of murder under Criminal Case 20-1332.
Police said Villaran suddenly drew a .45 pistol and fired at the policemen, prompting the lawmen to return fire which resulted to his death.
According to reports, Villaran was the prime suspect in the killing of a resident of Barangay Magcal, Cardona, Rizal and went into hiding in Subic after his committing the crime.
