Wanted in Zambales nabbed in Pangasinan

IBA, Zambales – A suspect in a series of theft and carnapping in Zambales was arrested in Pangasinan on Monday.

Zambales police director Col. Romano Velayo Cardiño identified the suspect as Jay-Ar Edquid y Factor, 32, of Purok 2, Lauis, Candelaria town.

Candelaria chief of police Lt. Pablo Aggabao said the suspect was arrested by

joint operatives of Candelaria police, 1st Provincial Mobile Force Company,  together with Bugallon, Pangasinan police at Sitio Tandoc, Barangay Nagsaing, Calasiao, Pangasinan by virtue of warrant of arrest issued by Judge Aida Theresita B. Basa-Divida of the 1st Municipal Circuit Trial Court, Sta. Cruz-Candelaria, Zambales, docketed under Criminal Case No. 5851 dated Feb. 13, 2021 for the crime of theft with recommended bail of P30,000.

Another warrant of arrest against Edquid was issued by Judge Santiago M. Beltran, Jr. of Regional Trial Court, Branch 69, Iba, Zambales, docketed under RTC 13778-2021-I dated July 13, 2021 for violations against the New Anti-Carnapping Act of 2016 (RA10883) with recommended bail of P300,000.

Police said Edquid is the suspect in a series of theft incidents in barangays Lauis and Poblacion, Candelaria in 2020 and is also the primary suspect in a carnapping incident on April 17, 2021 in Barangay Dampay, also in Candelaria.

The suspect is now detained at the Candelaria MPS.

“The arrest of wanted suspects brings justice to the victim, it is also a clear message to all criminals that the Zambales PNP will continue to intensify and expedite its arrest among wanted persons even in areas under the strict community quarantine” said Cardiño.
