BALANGA CITY — Gov. Albert Garcia on Tuesday explained that the main cause in the spike in the number of cases of the coronavirus disease in Bataan was the contagion caused by non-adherence to health protocols and mobility of people.
“Isipin na lamang na kung hindi sumusunod ang mga tao sa protocols pagkatapos gumagalaw ang maraming tao, mas maraming hawa-hawa,” the governor said, adding this is the main reason why they placed Bataan under the enhanced community quarantine.
He said that in the beginning of the ECQ last Sunday, it was observed that fewer people were out in the streets.
“Ang purpose talaga nito (ECQ) ay maiwasan, mabawasan ang mobility, for people to stay at home at essential travel lamang ang puwedeng lumabas para mabawasan ang transmission ng virus,” Garcia said.
He was hopeful that in the following days, the number of Covid-19 infections in the province will go down.
The governor attended the opening of the vaccination center at the Peninsula Electric Cooperative which is the 22nd vaccination site in Bataan.
He said more vaccination centers will be opened so that 7,000 to 10,000 people will be vaccinated a day and for the province to attain herd immunity in the earliest possible time.
Provincial health office chief Dr. Rosanna Buccahan said 2,000 vaccinees, all with appointments and control numbers, were scheduled for inoculation Tuesday at the Bataan People’s Center.
She said there were few who availed themselves of the vaccines before lunch and people might have decided to come later in the afternoon resulting to the long line. She assured that all the 2,000 people will be vaccinated.
Buccahan said that as much as possible they do not entertain walk-ins but there were times that they took consideration of those requesting to be vaccinated.
She said that aside from vaccination, they are focusing on the hospitals in the province that many have high occupancy rates.
