CITY OF SAN FERNANDO – The groundbreaking ceremony of P273 million worth of projects inside Fort Magsaysay in Nueva Ecija will be held on Friday with Department of Public Works and Highways Secretary Mark A. Villar presiding.

The construction of the 7th Infantry Division (7ID) headquarters and various military facilities are funded under the agency’s convergence program with the Department of National Defense dubbed as “Tatag ng Imprastraktura para sa Kapayapaan at Seguridad (TIKAS).

This, according to DPWH regional director Roseller Tolentino on Monday.

It was learned that the TIKAS Program was initiated for the mutual benefit of the two agencies wherein the DND can mount projects with the DPWH, while the DND shall safeguard DPWH projects in conflict areas.

Convergence projects in Fort Magsaysay include the P65-million hangar at the Philippine Army Aviation Regiment, P42-million 7ID headquarters building, P40-million transient facility at the Light Reaction Regiment, P20-million enlisted personnel barracks at the Special Forces Regiment (Airborne), and the P20-million administration building.

Tolentino said P85 million was likewise allocated to concretize the military installation’s 7.261-kilometer road from the Light Reaction Regiment/Special Forces Regiment (Airborne) camps leading to the Molave Complex.

“These projects are vital since assets such as infrastructure facilities must be implemented to complement the envisioned modernization of the military,” he said.
