ORANI, Bataan – Former Senate President Manuel B. Villar for the first time on Thursday returned here, his hometown, six months after the May 10 national elections where he ran and lost in his bid for the Presidency.
He said that he rested after the elections and only returned now. “Mahalagang malaman ng mga taga-Bataan na totoo ang sinabi ko noon na babalik-balikan ko lalo na ang Orani. (It is important for the people of Bataan to know that I have not forgotten my promise to go back often to Bataan especially Orani.),” the senator said.
“Kung naging Presidente tayo, magiging pinaka-magandang bayan ang Orani pero hindi tayo pinalad,” Villar said smiling.
But he emphasized that although he did not become President, he will continue on helping Bataan especially Orani in his individual capacity and as a senator.
Villar’s mother is from the Bamba Family in barangay Paking in Orani.
Villar, Nacionalista Party chair, administered oath to newly-elected and re-elected barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan officials in 29 barangays of Orani at the Orani Multi-purpose Gym.
Rep. Herminia Roman of Bataan’s First District, Vice-Gov. Efren Pascual, Jr. and municipal officials of Orani welcomed the former Senate president.
