ANGELES CITY – A barangay captain here has announced that the establishment of the first-ever covered court in Barangay Malababias is almost done.
Barangay Captain Edison Nacu disclosed that the P5 million sports facility is nearly completed and set to be inaugurated this month. He said the project was a joint undertaking of the Malabanias barangay council and the mayor here in a bid to fight illegal drugs and promote healthy living..
“In the campaign trail, I promised to build some of the necessary projects in my term. This is one of them,” said Nacu. He added that his next target is a new barangay hall.
Nacu also showed to Punto on-going construction projects in at least five streets– Tamarind, Arayat, Josefa, Narciso and Montalban. He said his village and Nepomuceno had funded the projects.
Nacu said Narciso is a vital street linking Malabanias’ commercial area to Barangay Balibago. He added that Hensonville-Checkpoint public utility jeep route passes at Narciso.
“For many years, Narciso had a flood-prone area and this is being repaired. It’s like a swimming pool when it rains hard,” he said.
Nacu’s village plays host to almost half of the entertainment bars and hotels in the city, including Clarkton and Medgar.
The first-term village chief said they had employed some 200 village cops and volunteers to ensure the implementation of a no-nonsense peace and order campaign.
