Leopoldo Ferrer, 64, councilor of Barabgay Papaya here died on the spot due to multiple gunshot wounds from a carbine and an M-16 rifle while his companion, Rodolfo Mudlong, is being treated in a local hospital, police said
Investigation disclosed the duo, along with two other friends, were in a drinking spree in front of the house of a certain Rony Yola when peppered with bullets by two suspects who swiftly alighted from a black car at about 9 p.m. Thursday, July 21.
There was no information linking the victims to any illegal drugs activity. Instead, sources said, the attack could have been triggered by a land dispute.
Meanwhile, Allen Paz, 31, who was listed in the local police’s drug watchlist survived an attack by two gunmen who barged into his house at around 10:40 p.m. on July 20.
Police said Paz managed to run away, jumped over a concrete fence but not before bullets hit both his legs.
He is now undergoing medical treatment.
