CITY OF SAN FERNANDO – A sitting barangay chairman, a retired Philippine Air Force colonel and six others were arrested in a police raid on a “tupada” or illegal cockfight in Floridablanca, Pampanga Sunday afternoon.
An initial report of the Pampanga 1st Provincial Mobile Force Company identified those arrested as Barangay Palmayo chairman Jacob Pajardo, 59; retired PAF Lt. Col. Marcelino Morales, 60, of Barangay San Jose; Roberto Miraflores, 57, Mark Angelo Perez, 19, and Noel Suener, 36, all of Barangay Paguirian; Arwin Mendoza, 52, Angelo Mendoza, 53, and Noel Regala, 57, all of Barangay San Pedro, all in Floridablanca town.
The report said that joint elements of the Floridablanca police, the Pampanga police investigation unit, with the Pampanga 1st PMFC as lead, conducted anti-illegal gambling operations in Purok 6, Barangay Paguirian around 5:15 p.m. Sunday and caught in the act the suspects engaged in illegal cockfighting in violation of PD 1602, as well as possible violations of Covid-19 health protocols.
Confiscated by the police from the suspects’ “actual control and possession” were seven live fighting roosters, four dead fighting cocks, three P500 bills, and one P20 bill.
The arrested suspects together with the confiscated pieces of evidence were brought to the Pampanga PIU office for documentation and disposition.
