JAEN, Nueva Ecija – A village chief and his partner survived a gun attack by riding-in-tandem suspects in Barangay Pamacpacan here at about 8:30 a.m., Aug. 12.

The suspects were subsequently arrested in an Oplan Bakod, a hot pusuit operation, launched by various police units, according to municipal police chief Major Herbert Ocumen.

The suspects were identified as Ryan Lhane Gonzales, 24, and Jaypee Ong, 38, both of Purok 3, Barangay San Anton, San Leonardo, Nueva Ecija.

In his report the provincial headquarters, Ocumen named the victims as chairman Clifford Miranda, 46, of Barangay Pamacpacan, and partner Ivy Aque, 43.

They are being treated in an undisclosed hospital.

Police said the victims were in front of an establishment overseeing a government assistance distribution activity when the suspects suddenly arrived on board a motorcycle. The back rider reportedly pumped a .45 pistol towards Miranda which also hit the woman.

“The suspects were pursued and eventually apprehended aboard the same motorcycle,” Ocumen reported. This, after the identities of the suspects and the motorcycle were readily established via CCTV footage whose images were digitally sent to various police units nearby and set up a system called Oplan Bakod.

Operatives from the adjacent town of Zaragoza, headed by Maj. Gregorio Bautista, spotted the suspects and subsequently caught them jointly with Jaen cops.
