Police identified the victim as Rolando Bautista, 42, chair of the said village.
Investigation disclosed that Bautista, with his wife Lydia, 38, a female relative and a ten-month-old granddaughter, was driving an owner-type jeep when the suspects suddenly arrived and without a word peppered him with bullets from the back.
Responding constituents rushedthe victim to Cabiao General Hospital but was declared dead on arrival by attending physicians.
The attack happened 10 to 15 meters from the security detachment reportedly manned by three policemen from the regional public safety battalion, according to sources.
Report said the motorcycle driver was wearing a helmet while the backrider’s face was covered with a handkerchief.
Police have yet to establish the motive and the identity of the suspects.
Cabiao is one of the 17 towns and cities earlier identified by the Commission on Elections (Comelec) as areas of concern for the forthcoming synchronized national and local elections.
