BONGABON, Nueva Ecija – Seventeen health workers from a government hospital here have been placed under 14-day quarantine after a vegetable trader from

nearby Laur town who died at the facility turned out to be suffering from a respiratory disease.

Mayor Allan Xystus Gamilla said the 57-year-old malevegetable trader was treated for a case of stroke at the Bongabon District Hospital over the weekend.

This prompted a quick coordination among the municipal health office, municipal disaster risk reduction and management office and the officials of the district hospital to observe protocols, the mayor said.

Of the health workers that could have been exposed to the patient, nine, including two from Cabanatuan City, were under selfquarantine,  and the eight who don’t have enough space for home quarantine were brought to a resort by the municipal government.

As of press time, Gamilla said this municipality remains free from the coronavirus disease.
