Vax for second dose on reserve in Bataan

ITY The provincial health office on Wednesday assured the public it has reserved vaccines to be administered as second dose to medical frontliners in Bataan who have been vaccinated with CoronaVac starting March 8.

PHO chief Dr. Rosanna Buccahan said they have scheduled inoculation for the final dose on April 29.

She said that vaccination against the coronavirus disease was ongoing at the Lou-is Resort for senior citizens in this city and at the Bataan People’s Center for the elderlies in 11 towns of the province.

Gov. Albert Garcia announced that senior citizens in Orion town have started receiving their first shots last Tuesday in the inoculation center at the Orion Elementary School.

The governor has urged municipal mayors in Dinalupihan, Hermosa, Orani, Samal, Abucay, Pilar, Orion, Limay, Mariveles, Bagac and Morong to prepare inoculation areas in their respective municipalities to speed up the vaccination.

Garcia thanked the Department of Health for the new delivery in Bataan of 4,712 doses of CoronaVac, out of which 1,836 doses were shared to the Balanga City health office.

“Nakalaan ito sa ating mga minamahal na lolo at lola at para na rin sa nalalapit na pagtanggap ng second dose ng mga nauna nang nabakunahan sa medical frontliners sa Bataan,” the governor said.

Buccahan said since March 8, they have vaccinated almost 12,000 medical and non-medical frontliners, including senior citizens whose actual number was still undergoing validation.

She said she was hopeful that DOH will continue sharing more vaccines to the province in addition to vaccines procured by the provincial government, awaiting arrival.

Meanwhile, PHO reported Wednesday that Bataan logged 68 new confirmed Covid-19 cases that made the number of those tested positive to shoot to 5,207 with 623 active ones.

Buccahan said that four new casualties were recorded, bringing the total number of deaths to 141. New fatalities were an 80-yearold male from Orani, 52-yearold female from Abucay and 52-year-old and 60-yearold males from Balanga City.

The new confirmed cases are 19 from Bagac, 11 from Balanga City, nine from Dinalupihan, seven from Samal, five from Abucay, four from Pilar, three each from Mariveles, Morong and Orani, two from Orionand one each from Hermosa and Limay.

Among the new positive cases are  five children – four-monthold girl from Bagac, six-monthold boy from Samal, four-yearold and six-yearold boys from Bagac and 10-yearold boy from Balanga City.

The total number of those who have recovered rose to 4,443 after 27 new recoveries with 12 coming from Balanga City, six from Dinalupihan, two each from Pilar and Bagac and one each from Abucay, Limay, Mariveles, Orion, and Samal.
