THE provincial government of Tarlac Corona Virus Disease 2019 [COVID-19] vaccine rollout started last March 9 with seven medical
frontliners from the Tarlac Provincial Hospital [TPH] receiving the vaccines at the newly built Covid-19 vaccination site inside of the TPH.

The 630 doses of Sinovac vaccines received by the Tarlac provincial government were part of the donations of the People’s Republic of China to the Philippine Government.

First to receive the vaccine jabs were TPH Chief of Hospital Dr. Resurreccion Quiambao, TPH Chief of Clinics Dr. Maita Rigor and Provincial Health Officer Dr. Jeannette Lazatin.

The symbolic vaccination was witnessed by Governor Susan Yap, Department of Health [DoH] Regional Director Cesar Cassion, Department of the Interior and Local Government Provincial Director Belina Herman, Provincial DoH Representative Maria Noel Lim and Mayors Nora Modomo of Sta. Ignacia and Eloy Eclar of Gerona.

According to Yap, the 630 doses will be able to vaccinate 315 TPH medical workers.

“We are still waiting for the next batch of vaccines that will come from the national government so that we can able to administer jabs to other medical frontliners that are in the priority list,” the governor said.

Frontliners identified by the DoH in the priority list are the medical staff of the Cong. Enrique “Henry” Cojuangco Jr. Memorial Hospital, the La Paz Medicare and Community Hospital, Jecsons Medical Center and the Central Luzon Doctor’s Hospital.

“We are targeting to vaccinate around 70-percent of our kababayans, the ideal percentage to reach herd immunity,” Yap pointed-out.

The provincial government earmarked P100 million for the procurement of vaccines. Tarlac City and other municipalities likewise allotted funds for their own vaccine rollout.
