CLARK FREEPORT — Health Sec. Paulyn Jean Ubial said here yesterday she would push for banning the entry of all pornographic sites in the country’s internet system as a measure to curb the spread of HIVAIDS among the youth.

In an exclusive interview during the Dangerous Drugs Summit here yesterday, Ubial also said she is no longer pushing the distribution of condoms among senior high school students. “It was only an option raised for consideration,” she said.

She earlier batted for the condom option amid growing cases of HIVAIDS in the age bracket of senior high school students.

Ubial said, however, that she would push for the government to undertake measures to ensure that illegal pornographic websites do not get into the country’s internet system, on the assumption that pornography via internet on endemic smartphones push the youth to promiscuous behavior.

“I will support anything that can curb the spread of HIV-AIDS,” she stressed.

Ubial also said, however, that she is considering the distribution of print materials showing actual photos of people with sexually transmitted diseases as another deterrent to sexual promiscuity among the youth. She did not say, however, to whom the materials should be distributed.

The measure would be similar to the photos on cigarette packs showing the cancers of people who were stricken with cancer because of smoking.
