BALANGA City- Initial report released Wednesday by the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office showed 36,145 individuals from 9,351 families were affected by tropical storm Glenda.
Tess Senora, PDRRMO OIC, said that out of those affected, 6,574 families or 11,061 individuals were served by the provincial and municipal social welfare and development offices in evacuation centers.
They came from 61 out of 236 barangays in 11 towns and one city in the province. Most of those who voluntarily evacuated were from seaside villages where the waves became turbulent and overflowed on low-lying areas and even highways.
Electricity was back in most parts of the province at 7 p.m. Wednesday after almost 12 hours of power blackout. The Peninsula Electric Cooperative and the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines rushed works to restore power.
Many big trees fell along the national roads but barangay officials were quick in responding to avoid delay in travel.
