MALOLOS CITY – “Totoo at hindi na mapipigilan pa ito gaya ng iba pa nating proyekto. And we promise the Filipino people that the entire [Department of Transportation] and the railway sector will continue to work until our last day of office to deliver our commitment of providing a more convenient and comfortable life for every Filipino.”
Thus, shared Transportation Secretary Arthur P. Tugade after his inspection on March 31 of the PNR Clark Phase 2 (Malolos-Clark) of the North-South Commuter Railway (NSCR) Project.
The 53-kilometer rail segment will have six stations: Calumpit in Bulacan, and Apalit, City of San Fernando, Angeles City, Clark Freeport Zone, and Clark International Airport (CRK) in Pampanga.
Tugade noted that this will be the rail line segment that will feature the country’s first ever Airport Railway Express Service which will link Makati to CRK from 2-3 hours to just 55 minutes.
Travel time from Malolos to the airport will be reduced to 30-35 minutes from the present 1.5 to 2 hours, Tugade added.
The overall progress rate of the construction is at 36 percent.
