Trike driver, tot killed in collision with ambulance

    SAN FELIPE, Zambales – A tricycle driver and his 3-year-old  passenger were killed, while three others were injured when the tricycle they were riding collided with an Army ambulance along the National Highway in Barangay Rosete of this town, police said.

    Zambales Police Provincial Office (ZPPO), Director, Sr. Supt. Rolando Felix, identified the victims as tricycle driver Teodoro Simon, Jr., 25, of Barangay Manglicmot, San Felipe and passenger, Kirby Angelo Elcano, 3-years old.

    Simon, Jr., was pronounced dead on arrival at President Ramon Magasaysay Hospital in Iba, Zambales while Escano died while being treated at the said hospital.

    The injured passengers were identified as Myrna Fajotina, 48; Kristeneil Fajotina, 16; and Simon Earl Elcano, 1, all residents of Barangay Sindol, San Felipe.

    Initial investigation disclosed that the tricycle driven by Simon, Jr. with plate number QR-8662, was traversing the National Highway heading north when it attempted to overtake another tricycle and accidentally collided with the incoming L-300 van ambulance (SHB-668) driven by SSgt Alberto Pera Fabro, 47, married, of the Philippine Army based at Fort Magsaysay, Nueva Ecija and a resident of 57 Col.Estacio St., Palingon, Taguig, Metro Manila.

    Reports added that the ambulance came from relief operations in Botolan, Zambales when the accident occurred.
