Clark, Philippines (04 October 2022) – Travel + Leisure Co. Philippines has partnered with the Department of Environment and Natural Resources through its Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Office (DENR-PENRO) in Pampanga for the company’s tree planting drive.

Through the partnership, the DENR-PENRO provides tree seedlings from its nursery in Arayat to Travel + Leisure Co. for planting in different Aeta communities in the province.

Travel + Leisure Co. is the world’s leading membership and leisure travel company, with nearly 20 travel brands across its resort, travel club, and lifestyle portfolio. The Clark operations serve as a global support center for the company’s multiple business units, including Wyndham Destinations and RCI.

Through the Clark office’s sustainability program WYNDGreen, employees from different departments recently planted 250 fruit-bearing and native trees in Sitio Haduan, an Aeta community in the mountains of Mabalacat. The team has planted jackfruit, guyabano, cashew, Java plum (duhat), and narra trees.

“Travel + Leisure Co. has set a global goal of planting two million trees by 2023. As its business arm in the Philippines, we are committed to contributing to our environmental campaign in reducing carbon emissions,” said Gloria Llamas, Director of Operations, Travel + Leisure Co. in Clark.

Miss Llamas, who personally joins the company’s environmental activities, explained that the company has been planting trees in different Aeta communities near Clark. She said that the planted trees would support the community’s biodiversity and the Aeta people.

“Our team planted fruit-bearing trees as requested by the Aeta. We hope these trees will grow and become a source of food and income for them. The Aeta in this community travel to Clark and nearby cities to sell their fresh produce in small markets,” added Llamas.

Since last year, the company’s employees have been planting trees in Sitio Haduan and an Aeta community in the Sapang Bato Watershed, Angeles City. In total, the team has planted 363 trees and counting.

Aside from tree planting, the company’s WYNDGreen sustainability program also conducts various environmental activities such as school garden and beach cleanups, and a turtle conservation campaign partnering with a local organization.
