Trader nabbed for violating gun ban

    OLONGAPO CITY – Police here nabbed a businessman after firing his gun to thwart fishermen at the Subic Bay Waters, Friday morning.

    Olongapo City Police Office Director, Sr. Supt. Christopher Tambungan, identified the suspect as Cesar Viacrusis, 65, and resident of No. 23, National Highway, Barangay Barretto, this city.

    Initial investigation disclosed that about 10:00 a.m., for no justifiable reason, the suspect fired his gun upward upon seeing the group of six fishermen led by Alfredo Villamor, 63, also of Barangay Barretto laying their Beach Siene (fishing nets or pukot) within 150 meters away from the shoreline of suspect private resort.

    Report added suspect also aimed his gun to said group of fishermen.

    Lauraeno Artagame, chairman of the Subic Bay Integrated FARMC, said that Subic Bay Waters was declared as fishing ground of small fishermen in the area under the City FARMC.

    Suspect was arrested by PO2 Sherwin Tan, PO3 Alexander Severino and PO1 Stephen Domingo. Recovered from the suspect was one Glock 37 Caliber 45 pistol loaded with five live ammunitions.

    Suspect is now in custody of Police Station 6 facing violation of the Comelec gun ban. Zambales and Olongapo City was declared under Comelec gun ban due to the schedule special election for the House of Representative in the 2nd District of Zambales on February 4, 2012.
