PILAR, Bataan The municipal hall here is undergoing renovation not only because of leaks on the roof but in preparation for the “new normal, Mayor Carlos Pizarro, Jr. announced Friday.

The mayor said the two-storey building is being renovated under a P15-million grant from the provincial government led by Gov. Albert Garcia.

He said that before the coronavirus disease pandemic struck, the repair was already scheduled because of the leaking roof, hopeful that it will be finished before the onset of the rainy season but the dreaded virus came.

Target for the completion of the repair this time is within December this year.

The most important aspect of the renovation, according to Pizarro, is the provision of a spacious one-stop-shop where those transacting business with the municipal government need not go from one office to another but only in one place.

The mayor said with the one-stop-shop, hopping from office to office will be avoided unless necessary.

“We are preparing for a new normal situation so that we will have less problems on Covid19,” Pizarro said.

He thanked the governor for helping the town, site of historic Mt. Samat where the War Memorial Shrine and the giant memorial cross are located.
