Top positions in capitol filled up

    MALOLOS CITY—Top vacant positions at the Bulacan provincial capitol has been filled, Governor Wilhelmino Alvarado announced on Monday.

    However, hundreds of lower positions remained to be filled up since the expiration of the seven day extension for contract workers at the capitol last July 7.

    Among the positions filled up were the Provincial Administrator, Chief of Staff, Provincial Public Affairs Officer (PPAO), General Services Office, Provincial Engineer’s Office, and the Arts and Culture Officer.

    Appointed as new Provincial Administrator was Jim Valerio, the chief of staff of former Rep. Lorna Silverio of the third district of Bulacan since 2002.

    Valerio also served as the secretary of the Sangguniang Bayan of Bocaue from 1998 to 2001.

    For the chief of staff position, Gov. Alvarado announced the official appointment of Cesar Villanueva, his former chief of staff while serving as vice governor of the province from 2007 to 2010.

    Villanueva came from Hagonoy town where he also served as a municipal councilor for three consecutive terms, from 1998 to 2007.

    Alvarado also appointed Maricel Cruz as head of PPAO, while Marina Sarmiento assumed the post of the GSO chief.

    For the provincial engineer’s office, Nestor Hernandez was appointed officer in charge, while Chief Inspector Dan Orendain was appointed head of the capitol’s Civil Security Unit.

    Retired Air Force Lt. Col. Pepito Plamenco assumed the position of Provincial Jail Warden which was left vacant after Adelio Asuncion was sacked with the discovery of 200 grams of shabu inside the provincial jail.

    For the Arts and Culture Officer, Eliseo Del Cruz is set to replace Armand Sta. Ana, but no official announcement has been issued, along the position of provincial legal officer where Atty. Bernar Fajardo is said to be on top of the short list.

    As this developed, Alvarado announced that they are now accepting applications for nurses position in the provincial health office.

    He said that other applications for other positions in the capitol are being carefully screened.

    Alvarado told capitol employees on Monday to always wear a smile when serving the Bulakenyos.
