CITY OF SAN FERNANDO – Fourth District Board Member Nestor Tolentino appealed to the Pinoy Gumising Ka Movement (PGKM) to wait for the reclassification of villages in Porac where the at least 12 prominent piggeries are located.

Tolentino, chairman of the sangguniang panlalawigan committee on environment, said “from what I heard, the reclassification is coming soon.”

“This,” he added,”would make the piggeries transfer to other areas.”

Tolentino said his appeal for “more patience” is also directed to other residents who have been complaining for years over the foul smell allegedly coming from the piggeries.

Tolentino said the non-inclusion of the PGKM in the monitoring team formed to check on the piggeries was not deliberate. He said he was expecting that the SP secretariat to inform the PGKM and other parties about the recent meetings when the team was formed.

“We have been doing a lot and we leave the inviting to the SP secretary. But rest assured that we welcome all sectors, especially the PGKM,” said Tolentino.

The first-term board member disclosed that Joyce Velasco of the Kilusan Kontra Amoy (KKA) was present when the team was formed.

“Velasco was there that’s why she was included. I was looking for the PGKM but they were not there during meetings,” said Tolentino.

He assured the public that the team he had formed would be “fair and will give honest assessment.”
