HPI reaffirms its commitment to supporting the educational development of the Filipino youth through active participation in Brigada Eskwela 2025.

Manila, Philippines – In support of the Department of Education’s (DepEd) annual Brigada Eskwela initiative with this year’s theme: “Sama-sama Para sa Bayang Bumabasa”, Holcim Philippines, Inc. (HPI) took part in the nationwide school clean-up and rehabilitation drive last June. Through its social initiative program “Holcim Helps,” the company supported approximately 6,000 students and mobilized almost 300 employees who volunteered from its cement manufacturing plants in Bulacan, La Union, Davao, and Lugait.

To support DepEd’s drive to improve the reading ability of Filipino youth, Holcim La Union Plant constructed two Reading Hubs in its host community in Barangay Quirino. During the initiative, Marvin B. Cardinez, Barangay Captain of Quirino expressed his gratitude for the extended support to their community, “Maraming salamat Holcim Philippines. Mas magiging conducive sa mga bata (ang reading hub) habang

nagbabasa at magagamit din ng mga nagpapabasa from SK and LGU” he said. Part of this initiative is the installation of air conditioning units and the provision of new learning materials in the hubs for a more comfortable and engaging learning environment.

Across its plants, HPI provided its host communities with in-kind support such as cleaning materials, painting supplies, and tools for minor repairs and facility improvement for all its host communities.

These contributions aimed to help prepare schools for the upcoming academic year and ensure that students and teachers return to a safe, clean, and well-maintained learning environment. These efforts are part of HPI’s broader commitment in building progress through its social initiatives focused on advancing education, health, environment and infrastructure for long-term positive impact within its host communities.
