GUAGUA, Pampanga – Second District Board Member Mylyn Pineda-Cayabyab ordered the release of food assistance to drivers and operators of jeepneys and tricycles here as part of the personal initiative of the Pineda family to assist vulnerable sectors amid the new rise of cases from the highly contagious Omicron variant of the corona virus.
Pineda-Cayabyab was represented by fellow 2nd District board members Fritzie David Dizon and Tonton Torres along with Guagua Vice Mayor Sajid Khan Eussof. A total of 2, 833 drivers received canned goods and rice along with face masks and arm sleeves.
“Our transportation sector is yet to recover from the economic hardships brought by the pandemic. They need all the support until our lives return at least to some level of normalcy,” Pineda-Cayabyab said.
The lady legislator noted that the recovery of the transportation sector would depend on the easing of restrictions on the economic and school sectors.
Pineda-Cayabyab also gave the drivers face masks and arm sleeves for their daily use. She said she aims to assure vulnerable sectors that the government of the province is one with them in their needs and concerns.
“We hope to reach people who have yet to receive anything amid this ongoing pandemic. It is a statement of assurance that their local government is here for them,” Pineda-Cayabyab said. PR/MPC-IG
