Cojuangco cited reports that Tarlac 1st District Rep. Enrique Cojuangco would run for Tarlac governor in the 2016 synchronized national and local elections.
She said that if movie actress and presidential sister Kris Aquino would run for Tarlac governor as rumored, the presidential sister would likely face the congressman, a first cousin of her (Mrs. Cojuangco’s) husband former Rep. Jose “Peping” Cojuangco.
However, she expressed confusion on Kris’s political plans, as she cited reports that the presidential sister had been rumored to be interested in running not only for Tarlac governor but also for Congress and the Senate.
In jest, Cojuangco said she would leave the country if Kris enters politics.
Earlier, Paniqui Mayor Miguel Cojuangco-Rivilla said a clash between Cojuangco family members remains a likely scenario in the gubernatorial polls in Tarlac, as he cited reports that Dr. Isabel Cojuangco- Suntay would also run for governor.
“But all of the gubernatorial plans of those in the Cojuangco clan would dissolve if Kris finally decides to enter politics via the governorship of Tarlac,” he said.
“Kris would be unbeatable. To run against her in Tarlac would be wishful thinking,” he said.
