MABALACAT, Pampanga – A paper factory worker here died at the height of strong rains Wednesday night when his motorcycle banged the back portion of a truck parked along Ninoy Aquino road, barangay Bundagul.
Supt. Rolly Mendoza, town police chief, identified the victim as Derrick S. Pamindanan, 28, of Teresa St., Villa Teodora, barangay Dau, here.
The Trust International Paper Corp. (TIPCO) worker was declared dead on arrival at the nearby hospital suffering from various injuries, including the fatal ones on his head. He just came out from his duty at the TIPCO plant in Bundagul and was heading home when the accident happened.
Police said the strong rains and poor visibility contributed to the fatal accident involving the Isuzu Hooklift truck driven by Armando C. Manlapaz, 47, of barangay Sto. Cristo, Norte, Gapan, Nueva Ecija.
The truck experienced mechanical problem and was parked along the road. The victim failed to see the warning device.
Reynaldo Banzali, relative of Pamindanan, disclosed that the wife of the victim is contemplating on filing criminal charges against the truck driver detained at the municipal jail here.
He said Manlapaz should have turned on the lights of the truck while it was parked at the middle of the road.
