BALANGA CITY — Thousands of candidates in the barangay and sangguniang kabataan elections (BSKE) joined a unity walk and peace covenant held here Sept. 21.
The candidates from 11 towns and one city in Bataan first signed the Integrity Pledge in big boards installed in the Capitol compound before conducting the unity walk which ended at the Bataan People’s Center where a program was held.
Lawyer Cris Ian Silva, provincial election supervisor, said 10,052 candidates in Bataan registered for the Oct. 30, 2023 BSKE.
To be elected are a barangay chairman and seven barangay kagawad and a sangguniang kabataan chairperson and seven SK members in every barangay. Bataan has 237 barangays.
He noted that there is no recorded election hot spot in Bataan.
Silva said an “Oplan Baklas” on premature campaign materials will be implemented.
Campaign period is from Oct. 19 to 28, 2023.
