Punto! Central Luzon Newspaper embraced its most unexpected change as all of us did and have been doing since March 16 of this year. With Mexico Printing closed, businesses put to a halt, and mobility totally regulated, we have to adapt. The local news cannot be quarantined. We need to continue to give news and information specially in this time of pandemic. So we did!
Our online platform, slowly moving prior to the pandemic, was accelerated. Birth pains from the start but slowly, we have learned to adjust and even improved. Thank you to our hardworking correspondents who continue to send their news and articles, photos and scoops through email. Even our senior correspondents easily learned emailing, use of fb messenger, attend zoom meetings, adjusting to the needs of the time. Thanks to Joann Manabat for her extra efforts in uploading our online contents, sometimes getting the ire of our editor and writers but can manage to correct and bounce back in few seconds.
It is sad to note that with printed issues coming out only once in a week, we need to retrench two employees. I promise to get you back to work once this pandemic is over. Just hold on.
To Ning Cordero, our Marketing and Administrative Manager, you never failed Punto! You continued to deliver our lifeblood and managed to keep our sponsors and advertisers. I am at awed on how you managed all these with ease, not showing any pressure. You are getting prettier and more beautiful while managing to save our newspaper.
To Bong Lacson, our The Editor – I know it was indeed hard for you working everyday, night and day, for the paper. Despite your restrictions on age and your tiring eyes, you continue to give your best and have easily adjusted to the “new normal” in delivering news and information. Bigyan ng jacket yan!
And of course, to our advertisers, readers and loyal followers who continue to believe in us, thank you for always being there. Yes, we can heal and stand together as one. We can bounce back together, hand in hand. We give you our prayers.
To the people behind Punto!, I admit that we have not met personally for the past 8 months due to restrictions on mobility. But this time that we are celebrating our 13th anniversary, we need to gather to thank God for all these blessings. I need to finally see you all, Punto! writers, Bong Lacson, Ning Cordero, admin staff. Indeed, news cannot be quarantined. Congratulations to all of us for keeping Punto! alive. Mabuhay kayo!
