CITY OF SAN FERNANDO — Deconstructed food wraps are one of the most versatile food fusion options with easy-to-assemble meals anyone can enjoy. Having a mouthful of savory dish has been one of the most satisfying ways to savor something old yet taste something new

Rosh Guevarra-Eusebio came up with an idea to offer easy-to-assemble food wrap meals in her online store, The Groshery, during the lockdown

With the impact of the Covid-19 crisis throughout the quarantine imposition, Rosh thought of offering affordable meals that can become the main source of food for everyone.

“Because it was quarantine, everyone was required to stay home, so I thought of offering meals that are great for sharing with the family at a fair price. Baked sushi was just new then, no one else was offering it here at that time so I thought of offering it on my online store instead,” shared Rosh.

Established in 2018 from what started as a part-time home activity, Rosh began offering cheesecakes to her neighbors and friends through her online store until she eventually decided to offer deconstructed DIY meals to somehow bring extra income for her family.

Rosh said she wanted to specialize in products that will capture both the young ones and the young once by concocting homemade, easy-to-assemble deconstructed food specialties that are great for sharing from home family meals to small gatherings.

“I wanted to sell products that everyone can enjoy. Just like any grocery store, I wanted The Groshery to offer products that are not specific to a certain dish or food. I wanted it to be open since I may be able to offer something more than just DIY meals and food wraps,” Rosh said.

The Groshery now purveys simple and affordable food specialties such as baked sushi and spring rolls. According to Rosh, she is still trying to come up with other ideas to add variety to her products.

Baked Roshi Pans

A deconstructed sushi worth saying “itadakimasu, this Japanese–inspired homemade fusion has been listed as one of the lockdown food trends making waves in the social media today.

Anyone can indulge with its unusual umami by wrapping nori seaweed sheet which has sparked interest for everyone to try.

The Groshery’s Baked Roshi Pans come in four varieties – tamago, California maki, baked creamy salmon, and ottogi wasabi kani shrimp in five different sizes – BunSho, BabyShi, MomShi, PopShi, and a tin can variety Dream Sushi perfect for potlucks and soirees. Price starts at P299.

Spring Rollsh — Eat-it-your-way

As the baked sushi continues to keep up with the trend, Rosh thought of offering the same idea as that of a healthier version which consequently led her to offer another deconstructed dish with the Thai spring rolls.

“Since people loved the idea of being involved in what they eat, just like the baked sushi, I thought of offering something more with a healthier option,” Rosh said.

The Spring Rollsh can be eaten in two ways — wrap and roll, and toss and sauce and it comes in four party tray variants – Prince, Princess (tin can), Queen, and King sizes. Price starts at P285.

Rosh said she also accommodates special orders such as extra spicy baked roshi, add-ons on toppings, additional nori seaweed sheets, or rice paper upon request.

The Groshery will soon offer Nama Cioccolata, a Japaneseinspired gooey chocolate truffles with different flavor infusion to nibble for dessert – something for everyone to look forward to.
