ANGELES CITY – The absence of any official pronouncement from the Commission on Elections on the results of the recount of the 2007 gubernatorial votes in Pampanga did not prevent unknown individuals from making known the alleged winner.
“Baby Pineda won.” So carried a uniform text message from different mobile phone numbers. The message moved around Pampanga starting at 6 p.m. Wednesday, as per the first messages received by Punto editors and writers. The Comelec reportedly finished the recount at 5 p.m.
The text messages opened – in capital letters, thus: “FINALTALLY, PHYSICAL COUNT (EXCLUDING CONTESTED AND CLAIMED BALLOTS.”
Proceeding from there were: “PINEDA – 206,041 Panlilio – 203,409 MARGIN – 2,632 Baby Pineda won”
Both the Pineda and Panlilio camps have yet to issue any statement on the matter.
