IBA, Zambales (PIA) — The Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) Zambales   extended livelihood and skills support to scholars and displaced workers across the province in observance of the National Day of Charity.

The initiative, conducted under Proclamation No. 598, s. 2024, highlights the government’s continuing commitment to compassion-driven public service by investing in technical-vocational education that opens pathways to employment and self-reliance.

TESDA Zambales Acting Provincial Director Leonardo R. Tabamo said the observance serves as a reminder that public service should always be anchored on empathy and inclusion.

“Ang pagdiriwang ng National Day of Charity ay paalala sa atin na ang tunay na serbisyo ay may puso. Sa TESDA Zambales, hindi lang skills ang ibinibigay namin—kundi pag-asa, suporta, at malasakit,” he said.

Through the Training for Work Scholarship Program (TWSP), TESDA released ₱68,000 for 25 scholars under the Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW) NC I (Superseded) course at G.T. SkillsTech School of Trade Inc. and ₱56,000 for 20 scholars under the Computer Systems Servicing (CSS) NC II course at COMTEQ Computer and Business College, Inc.

These cover training periods from September to November 2025 and represent the first 50 percent tranche of the Training Support Fund (TSF) designed to help scholars meet essential needs while training.

Beyond financial assistance, TESDA Zambales also strengthened partnerships for community-based learning.

The TESDA Provincial Training Center–Iba (PTC–Iba) collaborated with the Public Employment Service Office (PESO) Masinloc and the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) to initiate a free SMAW NC II training for 24 Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged/Displaced Workers (TUPAD) beneficiaries.

Each participant receives an allowance equivalent to DOLE’s ₱570 daily wage rate during the training period, offering both immediate income and long-term employable skills.

The project demonstrates how government agencies can work together to build sustainable livelihoods for displaced workers and other vulnerable groups.

By combining education, livelihood, and welfare support, TESDA Zambales’ initiatives during the National Day of Charity reflect a holistic approach to community development—one that empowers individuals with skills, dignity, and opportunities to contribute productively to the local economy.
