PALAYAN CITY – Over 4,700 graduates of technical and vocational institutions participated in the regional jobs bridging program, the second phase of Pangulong Gloria Scholarship Program, held at the Nueva Ecija Convention Center here on Monday.
Luz Victoria Amponin, provincial director of the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) in Nueva Ecija, said the program involved actual hiring of applicants, profiling or putting on a jobs website the list of applicants and their qualifications and distribution of bar coded gold card.
Besides call center agents, Amponin said, in demand during the jobs bridging activity were skilled workers such as welders, restaurant and tourism-related job workers.
Such courses were accredited by TESDA, she said.
Amponin said the activity that was participated in by 32 private companies, was spearheaded by TESDA in cooperation with the provincial government of Nueva Ecija and Nueva Ecija Association of Technical/Vocational Institutions, among others.
The first phase of Pangulong Gloria Scholarship Program, she explained, involved distribution of scholarships among youths for technical and vocational education.
“The second phase affirms the success of the first phase,” said Amponin.
TESDA III Regional Dir. Yolanda Ocampo and Executive Dir. Ed Gatchalian led the jobs bridging. The NEPG, on the other hand, was represented by Rey Sarmiendo, provincial affairs monitoring office chief.
