Teabags yield P408-M shabu in Bulacan sting

MARILAO, Bulacan – Some 60 kilos of shabu amounting to P408 million packed in teabags were seized by police from a suspected bigtime drug trader in an entrapment operation here on March 2.

Police identified the suspect as Jalon Supe Laureta, of Daisy St., Green Valle Molino II, Bacoor, Cavite and reportedly engaged in the bulk distribution of illegal drugs in Metro Manila and nearby provinces of Central Luzon.

The sting operation was conducted at Km 23 on the North Luzon Expressway, Barangay Lias, Marilao by elements of different operating units of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency in Central Luzon and the National Capital Region, and the Marilao police station.

Seized from Laureta were spme 60 kilos of shabu packed in Chinese teabags valued at P408,000,000; a Toyota Altis (XPS 112), three cellphones, and several identification cards.

The suspect now faces charges for violation of Section 5 (Sale of dangerous drugs) and Section 11 (Possession of dangerous drugs) of RA 9165.
