THE 2023 National SCUAA (State Colleges and Universities Athletics Association) games with a theme: Unity through Sports in State Universities and Colleges for National Development” had its lavish opening ceremonies last October 1 at the Clark Stadium in New Clark City, Capas, Tarlac.
Five years after the last National SCUAA, the much-anticipated event hosted by Tarlac Agricultural University (TAU) with the help of the Provincial Government of Tarlac (PGT).
The 2023 National SCUAA composed of 14 sports disciplines is participated by a total of 6,000 student-athletes, coaches, and delegates, and around 20,000 SUC officials, students, faculty members, and staff who all attended the opening ceremonies.
The sports event was made possible with the help and commitment of the Provincial Government of Tarlac under the leadership of Governor Susan Yap, Philippine Associate of State Universities and Colleges (PASUC), Commission on Higher Education (CHED), and Tarlac Agricultural University (TAU).
Governor Susan Yap in her message said that hosting the national SCUAA is a momentous event for the province.
“Matagumpay nating idaraos sa lalawigang Tarlac ang National SCUAA games. Hosting this sports spectacle is truly a momentous event for our province as we aim to continuously champion unity and camaraderie through sports,” Gov. Yap said.
Dignitaries who attended the opening ceremonies at the New Clark City Stadium were CHED Chairperson Prospero De Vera, PASUC Chairman Dr. Tirso Ronquillo, TAU President Dr. Max Guillermo, Region 3 SUC Chairman, Enrique Baking, SUC Presidents and Officials and other Tarlac provincial and local officials.
The six-day sports spectacle was played in different venues all over Tarlac province.
National SCUAA is a sports event that was held last February 2018 at the University of Antique.—PIO
