Thus said yesterday Pampanga 1st District Rep. Carmelo “Tarzan” Lazatin assailing Nepomuceno for alleged “poor fiscal management” of the city government.
Lazatin, a former three-term mayor, described Nepomuceno’s government as “worst ever in this city.”
Lazatin, at Monday’s inauguration of the P12-million Balibago barangay hall, endorsed Balibago Village Chief Rodelio “Tony” Mamac, saying he will be “a good mayor.” He also endorsed his political ally, Vice Mayor Vicky Vega-Cabigting, for mayor, stressing that she will be a “reliable one.”
Lazatin, who exchanged pleasantries with the first-term mayor during the event said Subic Clark Alliance for Development Council (SCADC) Chairman Edgardo “Ed” Pamintuan “will also be a good and reliable mayor for the city.” He added that Pamintuan, a former two-term mayor, “had the real heart for the city and his people.” The SCADC chief was also invited to grace the inaugaration of the barangay hall in the city’s premiere business and entertainment center.
Lazatin said the failure of Nepomuceno to give the salaries of city hall workers on time “is tantamount to negligence and incompetence.”
Some 3,200 city hall employees, including 1,200 regular workers, had not received their November 16-30 salary as of press time.
But City Administrator Irineo “Bong” Alvaro earlier said that city hall workers will receive their salary on December 12.
Alvaro, in a text message yesterday, said “yes, we are just saving money for the extra bonus of employees.” He issued the statement when asked to comment on the delayed salaries.
Asked to comment about the allegations of Lazatin, Alvaro said “ok lang po ‘yun karapatan nila na mamili ng gusto nila (that’s okey because it’s their right to choose whom they want).
