ANGELES CITY – First District Rep. Carmelo “Tarzan” Lazatin vowed to support the proposed toll road at the west portion of the FVR Megadike aimed at decongesting traffic here and to spur economic growth.
Lazatin described as “very good” the toll road pushed by Porac Councilor Mike Tapang.
“Traffic will be decongested in the city. It will also spur economic activities in Porac and Angeles,” Lazatin said.
Manila North Tollways Corp. (MNTC) board director Marvin Paule said he had recently met with Lazatin and told him about the proposed toll road which will pass by at Porac, Sta. Rita and Bacolor towns. The west portion of this city is adjacent to Porac.
Tapang gave the report and study on the proposed toll road to Paule, who then presented it to the MNTC board last Nov.23.
“I am quite sure MVP (Manny V. Pangilinan) of the MNTC will like our proposal. I hope he will give a hard look on it as it will benefit not just Porac but nearby communities, not to mention the operator of the toll road,” said Tapang.
The Porac councilor disclosed that the proposed toll road is about 16 kilometers. Its starting point in Barangay Canbatba can be connected to the Subic-Clark-Tarlac expressway (SCTEx).
Tapang said that sand haulers in Porac, Bacolor and Sta. Rita will use the toll road “as it saves time, effort and money.”
Tapang said the private vehicles will also use the toll road once it’s done.
“The area of the toll road is strategic. It’s an easy access to San Fernando on the other end and Subic and Clark on the other area,” he said.
Earlier, Tapang appealed to Gov. Lilia “Baby” Pineda to help in pushing for the development of the toll road. He also presented the same study to Pineda.
