ANGELES CITY – At least P86 million worth of major infrastructure projects will be done here next year, including the Leoncia Bridge in Barangay Sto. Domingo.

This was according to First District Rep. Carmelo “Tarzan” Lazatin who met with Public Works Sec. Rogelio Singson at the House of Representatives in Quezon City last week.

Lazatin said Singson has approved the construction of the Leoncio Bridge along the Circumferential Road at the western portion of this city. The temporary road in the area submerges into water when the nearby creek increases its volume spawned by floods and rains.

The solon disclosed that the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) will allot P46 million for the project. He added that he will give a counterpart of P20 million for the approaches of the bridge connecting Sto. Domingo to Barangay Cutcut.

Lazatin also announced that Singson will give P20 million for the approaches of the newly-constructed Pulung Bulu Bridge completed just before the city’s Fiesta last October.

“We want to make its approaches bigger considering it’s a vital and frequently-used area along the highway of MacArthur,” said Lazatin, who was recently adjudged Most Outstanding Congressman of the Philippines by Congress Magazine for the third straight year.

He disclosed that the approaches at the bridge are four-lanes and will be converted into six-lanes.

Lazatin thanked Singson for approving the funds for the projects in 2011.

He said the construction of the Leoncia Bridge and approaches of the Pulung Bulu are vital to boost economy and trade in his district.
