CITY OF SAN FERNANDO – “They don’t belong to my league. I don’t even think about them.”

Thus said yesterday re-electionist First District Rep. Carmelo “Tarzan” Lazatin when asked to comment about two of his  opponents who both filed their respective certificate of candidacy (COC) last November 20. They were former congressional and presidential wannabe Luisito “Chito” Bacani and Angeles City three-term councilor Ares Yabut.

“I am more focused on ensuring the victory my allies,” said Lazatin, who joined the ticket of mayoralty bet Sec. Edgardo “EdPam” Pamintuan of the Lakas-CMD-Kampi party yesterday who also filed their COCs at the Commission on Elections (Comelec) office in Angeles City. They were Vice Mayor Vicky Vega-Cabigting and Councilors Maricel Morales, Ruben Maniago, Willie Rivera and Jay Sangil.

Sangil, who is seeking for a third term, said Lazatin is “a political guru who always keeps the flame of public service burning.”

Morales, for her part, said “Lazatin will breeze past the election as he had been a true public servant.” She added that Lazatin had “put his people’s welfare ahead of his personal interests.”

“Indeed, Lazatin talks less and does more actions,” said Maniago.

The only son of the late former mayor and Pampanga Governor Rafael Lazatin, the first-term congressman filed 156 house bills and 28 house resolutions in less than three years. He was also a former three-term mayor and the longest serving solon in Pampanga since democracy was restored in 1986.
