TARLAC CITY (PIA) — About 170 senior high school students of Benigno S. Aquino National High School (BSANHS) participated in entrepreneurial mind-setting and product development seminars organized by the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Tarlac.
Held through the Negosyo Center (NC) Concepcion, the seminars supported the school’s program “Ignite and Innovate: The Future Founders Mentorship and Industry Collaboration.”
These aimed to equip students with the right mindset to pursue business opportunities and the knowledge to develop marketable products.
NC Concepcion Business Counselor Maryann Perez, the speaker for the Entrepreneurial Mind-Setting Seminar, discussed the importance of entrepreneurship, its rewards and risks, developing the right mindset, personal entrepreneurial characteristics, generating business ideas, choosing the right line of business, and other related topics.

To inspire the students, Perez also featured several micro, small, and medium enterprises in Tarlac, showcasing real-life success stories.
Meanwhile, NC La Paz Business Counselor Michael Ralph Silverio led the Product Development Seminar, sharing practical insights on creating innovative and market-ready products, including packaging functions, classifications and formats, proper labeling, and its components.
Following the seminars, DTI facilitated one-on-one product development consultations with Silverio and NC Capas Business Counselor Adrian Paolo David, along with Provincial Government of Tarlac – Provincial Cooperative and Enterprise Development Office Designers EJ Magbag and Weriel Mallari.
One of the participants, Lorgan Mallari, extended his gratitude for the learning opportunity.
“I am grateful for the opportunity to gain new knowledge about entrepreneurship. Through this seminar, I learned how to improve our products and make them more suitable for future business opportunities,” he shared.
DTI OIC-Provincial Director Florencia Balilo expressed her enthusiasm for the agency’s involvement.
“DTI Tarlac is proud to take part in this school event that fosters entrepreneurship among the youth. We hope to ignite their passion to explore business opportunities and become drivers of progress in their communities,” she stated.
Looking ahead, NC Concepcion plans to collaborate with other schools in the town to hold more entrepreneurial seminars that will enhance students’ business skills and innovative mindsets. (CLJD/MAECR, PIA Region 3-Tarlac)
