TARLAC CITY (PIA) — A total of three cooperatives in Tarlac received new trucks from the Philippine Rural Development Project (PRDP) of Department of Agriculture (DA) and the provincial government.

Recipients include Raniag Primary Multipurpose Cooperative (MPC), Abagon Compact Farm and Seed Growers MPC, and Caut Farmers Field School (FFS) Marketing Cooperative.

“The acquisition of new trucks will aid the cooperatives to be more equipped in increasing productivity, and minimizing labor time and cost,” DA-PRDP Regional Project Coordination Office Project Director Eduardo Lapuz Jr. said.

He reminded beneficiaries the need for immediate liquidation of the trucks to facilitate the request for a second tranche of goods of the three sub-projects.

A wing-van worth of P5,650,000 was awarded to Raniag MPC to be used in the hauling and trading of aromatic pigmented rice.

Moreover, Abagon MPC got a drop-side truck which costs P3,150,000 for its operations in transporting and marketing live goats.

And lastly, Caut FFS Cooperative received a drop-side truck worth P4,090,000 to support the trading and marketing of mungbean in Tarlac.

In a statement, Governor Susan Yap assured the support of the provincial government in tapping interventions from DA-PRDP to boost the productivity of cooperatives and to expand more opportunities in the future.

“These trucks will be most beneficial to our province, especially to our local farmer cooperatives who will be utilizing these vehicles,” Yap stressed.

“What made the day even more fruitful is hearing how these trucks will help boost productivity for goat, mungbean, and aromatic/pigmented rice. The enterprise operations will improve farmers’ incomes and contribute to the agricultural development of Tarlac. I look forward to seeing the fruits of these projects,” she added. (CLJD/TJBM-PIA 3)
